About this student scheme

The National Scholarship Portal is a single sign-on gateway built to replace the old practice of applying separately to each ministry for its own scholarship scheme — students register once, generating a permanent One Time Registration (OTR) ID, and then apply to any of the 50+ central scholarship schemes running through it. Launched in 2015, NSP spans the full academic ladder: pre-matric awards for Classes 9-10, post-matric support from Class 11 onward, and merit-cum-means scholarships for professional and technical courses, targeted at SC, ST, OBC, EBC and minority students. Every application passes through institute verification and state-level approval before the amount is disbursed directly to the student’s Aadhaar-linked bank account.
