JK SC/ST/OBC Post-Matric Scholarship

For learners who clear matriculation but find higher study financially out of reach, the Social Welfare Department of Jammu & Kashmir runs a Post-Matric Scholarship for domiciled SC, ST and OBC students. The award reimburses tuition fees in full and adds a monthly maintenance allowance of ₹230-₹1,200, the exact figure depending on whether the student is a day scholar or a hosteller and on the level of study, anywhere from Class 11 right through to PhD. Funding is routed under the central Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment framework, with the J&K administration adding its own state component for OBC students so coverage runs beyond the central ceiling. Money lands directly in the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account through DBT. Each year roughly 1.5 lakh students across the UT benefit; applications open on the National Scholarships Portal (scholarships.gov.in) during the July-November window.
