There is a good network of schools and other Educational Institutions, Aaganwari Centers and Health Institutions, Agriculture and its allied sectors contribute largely to the income and employment opportunities to the people. There are 770 number of educational Institutions, 658 number of Aaganwari Centers,104 number of Health Institutions spread throughout the lengths and breadths of the District.
In addition there are 41 bank branches with a deposit of Rs.1131.16 corers and advances to the tune of 782.87 corers as on 31-03-2017. The District enjoys the services of 3 sub-post offices and 23 branch post offices, thus providing quick postal service to the inhabitants. Further there exist 15 Zonal and 15 sub store level Seed Distribution Centers. There are 13 primary Agricultural Societies with a membership of 7078 members. Out of 9802.30 hects under Fresh Fruits 7435.75 hects are only under apple which depicts that apple is still the king of fresh fruits in the valley. Similarly, out of 7181.81 hects under dry fruits, there are 7172.21 hects walnut cultivation.
